Lam Research Corporation Establishes Matching Gift Fund FREMONT, Calif., September 20, 2001 - Lam Research Corporation (Nasdaq: LRCX), Fremont, Calif., today announced establishing a matching gift relief program for employees who wish to aid the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. Through Lam Foundation funds, the Company will match all employee contributions up to $100,000 and will make additional contributions to select charities of $100,000 for a corporate gift of up to $200,000. To encourage maximum employee donations, Lam is offering an option for automatic payroll deductions of moneys pledged.

"We are saddened by the tragic events that took place last Tuesday morning at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. To help support the thousands of victims, we are making this donation and organizing a blood drive for October to replenish the current abundant supplies," stated Stephen G.
