At Lam Research, we share our success to nourish the communities around us. Sankalp, the Corporate Social Responsibility Team at Lam Research India, has invested in two areas of giving: education and COVID-19 relief. Throughout 2020, our team was busy supporting the communities where we live and work.

In May, Sankalp in partnership with United Way reached out to communities affected by Cyclone Amphan in West-Bengal, providing 125 affected families with emergency supplies, tarpaulins, and hygiene kits.

In July, a team of 13 engineers from Lam Research India actively participated with local authorities to develop “Suraksha” kiosks, which feature an innovative design that eliminate the need for full-body personal protective equipment (PPE) since it provides a protective physical barrier between the health professional and the patient during COVID-19 testing. Sankalp funded the development of 17 kiosks across 16 districts in Karnataka in addition to 5000 PPE kits to hospitals.

Our employees are avid volunteers in education programs and throughout the year we partner with local schools to promote education among economically weaker communities. At the beginning of the school year, we distributed school kits, consisting of notebooks, textbooks, and stationery, to 465 students. In addition to this effort, 45 students benefitted from the program to pursue higher education.

In November, Sankalp distributed nutrition kits to improve the immunity of over 600 school children. Many of these students depend on the mid-day meals from the school for their nutritional requirements. When the pandemic hit and schools had to close their doors during the lockdown period, these nutrition kits played a crucial role in maintaining the students’ health and nutrition.

Most recently, our employees volunteered to support students through the Remote Mentoring Program in partnership with the Foundation for Excellence (FFE). The Remote Mentoring Program aims to leverage the skills and experience of professionals to offer guidance to students in aspects of education, personal development, and career exposure. The employees are able to spend time nurturing the future of students by spending time remotely to support the ambitions of the student.

2020 proved to be a challenging year for the world and Lam Research India was committed to making a lasting impact during these difficult times. In 2021, our employees remain steadfast in supporting the communities in which we live and work.
