Lam pledges $500,000 to support initiatives fighting social injustice in addition to allocating $500,000 from our COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Fund to the Black communities that have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic. The company will direct $250K each to the Center for Policing Equity and the Equal Justice Initiative working with police departments to change discriminatory practices across the country and injustice throughout the entire judicial system.   In addition UNCF and iUrbanTeen will receive $250K each to support Black students facing increased financial hardship as well as training programs, mentoring/internships and online learning as a result of COVID-19.

Below is a message from Tim Archer to Lam employees.

The Need to Do Better

June 1, 2020

In the midst of dealing with the global pandemic, last week we witnessed the horrific and senseless killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. In the days following, our communities have experienced numerous gatherings of protest ranging from passionate with peaceful intent, to escalations of anger and violence that continued throughout this past weekend.

Acts of racial discrimination and violence go against everything we stand for at Lam. Like many of you that I have heard from, I have found that watching these events unfold has caused feelings of sadness, outrage and—at times—confusion and frustration. As individuals, as a company, and as a society, we must work toward a world that both acknowledges and values the dignity and humanity inherent in each and every one of us.

At Lam, our vision is that every person feels valued, respected, and empowered to achieve their full potential—regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, national origin, religion or sexual orientation. In this moment, now more than ever, it is important to keep the conversations going, to listen to each other with empathy and compassion – and to support each other with open minds.

Through this difficult and challenging time the safety and well-being of employees remains our top priority. Should you need additional support our HR Services team has information and resources available.

As we move forward, I am committed to providing an inclusive and engaging culture so that we may continue to do extraordinary things together.

Tim
