Based in Osan, Gyeonggi-do, Lam Research Manufacturing Korea is one of our four manufacturing facilities around the globe and plays a critical role in supporting our global production needs. Since its establishment in 2011, the site’s output has been growing substantially due to its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and production capabilities.
Job Function Spotlight: Manufacturing Technicians
In support of equipment manufacturing, technicians are responsible for a number of activities that help ensure every Lam component and system built in Korea meets strict standards. Technicians begin each day by carefully inspecting the equipment being manufactured, assessing its progress, and checking the stock status of the parts that are required for its completion. They also address any issues that may occur during the construction of equipment and report all malfunctioning parts to ensure strict quality control. To help manage aggressive production schedules, they also attend daily meetings to report on and check the equipment status and shortages.
Process Spotlight: Order Fulfillment
Our order fulfillment team is responsible for managing and validating the overall equipment manufacturing process from order placement to production through shipment to the customer. This precisely timed and detailed process must be carefully planned and managed in order to meet our delivery commitments. The timing challenges and complexity are not unlike the masterful handling of a difficult concerto by an orchestra, where our order fulfillment team’s role is like that of the conductor. Growing Contributions
Over the past five years, the number of employees at Lam Research Manufacturing Korea has greatly increased. Although we have grown and face the many challenges of being a larger organization, our focus on investing in employee training and welfare as well as in corporate social responsibility activities remains steadfast.
Through systematic quality management and staff training at our Korean manufacturing facility, the ratio of locally sourced Lam parts is expected to grow to 60 percent in 2018. In this way, we contribute to Korea’s national competitiveness and economic development while supporting Lam’s customers with locally built semiconductor processing equipment.
