On June 28, 1969, members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community stood up for justice when police raided Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City. This event galvanized LGBTQIA+ activism, and more than fifty years later, the world continues to honor this day as Pride Day. For us at Lam, this is a moment to reflect on the Pride community’s past and inspire further change.

For me, today, I celebrate my family members and friends who identify across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. It is my interactions with them that shaped my views of the Pride community – a network of people that stand for authenticity, love and acceptance.

It’s why I have been proud to serve as the executive sponsor of the Lam Pride employee resource group (ERG), a network of more than 200 members across Lam’s global operations that provides support, advocacy, and outreach to the LGBTQIA+ community. Thanks to the members of the group, I have had the opportunity to listen to the acute challenges the community faces, explore my own understandings, and meet vibrant individuals from across the organization.

The Lam Pride ERG has made a tremendous impact on Lam, working to support a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, proudly carrying the Pride flag for allyship, creating learning opportunities that bolster crucial conversations, and building community trust that will lead to long-term change. These efforts are not just valued by people who identify as LGBTQIA+ within the company, but by members across our 15 ERGs that proudly represent many dimensions of identity.

I am encouraged by the progress the company has made to propel inclusion and diversity (I&D) forward – transforming I&D from a concept to one of our nine Core Values. And I am incredibly proud of the work the Lam Pride ERG has contributed to fostering an inclusive environment where all backgrounds are welcomed, heard, and valued, and every person feels empowered to achieve their full potential.

From all of us at Lam: Happy Pride Day!
