This week, Lam Manufacturing Korea (LMK) shipped its 10,000th process module  – a Flex® GL  to a foundry/logic customer.

  • LMK’s manufacturing footprint spans across three cities in South Korea - Osan, Yongin, and Hwaseong-si. Here, over 300 employees assemble tools across Lam’s etch and deposition product portfolio.

Why it’s important: LMK not only supplies locally produced, innovative semiconductor tools to the South Korean market, but also exports globally, contributing to the local economy and the development of the Korean semiconductor ecosystem.

  • Recently, CEO Tim Archer spoke about leveraging the partnership between the U.S. and Korean semiconductor industries to accelerate innovation at a U.S-Korea CEO Roundtable hosted by President Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea.

  • LMK also plays a critical role in Lam’s global production, promptly meeting the demands of our customers.

What we’re hearing:

  • "Achieving the shipment of our 10,000th module is a valuable outcome by our employees, who have worked hard to achieve the highest performance and quality. We are grateful for the support and contributions of our local partners, who have worked closely with us to ensure the stable supply of parts," said Chei Soo Lee, general manager of Lam Research Manufacturing Korea.

  • "This is a meaningful milestone for Lam Research's state-of-the-art manufacturing operations in our three-decade heritage in Korea. This achievement is a reflection of the commitment of our employees in Korea and close collaboration with our supply chain partners and customers, who today help make it possible for Lam to continue to provide the machines that make the semiconductors that enable everything from 5G to autonomous cars to smart homes," said Sang Won Lee, president of Lam Research Korea.

Big picture: LMK joins Lam’s manufacturing sites in Livermore, Tualatin, and Taiwan in achieving this manufacturing milestone.

  • Lam is considered an essential global partner for some of South Korea’s biggest chip makers.

Congratulations to the LMK team!
