At SEMICON West 2025, Lam Research introduced a powerful new tool designed to tackle one of the most persistent challenges in semiconductor manufacturing: yield variability.
The newly launched Fabtex™ Yield Optimizer, part of Lam’s broader Semiverse® Solutions platform, brings cutting-edge computational techniques to high-volume manufacturing (HVM) environments.
- Fabtex leverages a combination of virtual silicon digital twins, inline fab data, and proven optimization algorithms to reduce process variability and accelerate issue resolution. The result is faster cycle times, reduced wafer waste, and significant cost savings for fabs.
In this exclusive conversation with EE Times, David Fried, CVP and head of Semiverse Solutions, dives into how simulation and virtualization are reshaping the future of semiconductor manufacturing.
David explained that unlike traditional approaches to finding and fixing defects, which is a slow, iterative, and expensive process, Fabtex helps manufacturers accelerate the process and get to market faster.
“What Fabtex does it pairs that virtual silicon with actual data in the fab and it allows the virtual silicon our customers use to be more representative of all the variations they’re seeing in the fab,” David says. “This allows our customers to target all of their yield-limiting, systematic mechanisms at once.”
